“Oh yeah — Kolchak!”

A blog tradition — six Halloween stories that are too frightening for wine

No new Halloween wine tale this year, but never fear. Last year’s Star Trek story – the USS Wine Curmudgeon must outwit the Imperial Distributor Empire – is worth reading at least twice more.

And, as noted before, all of them are well done, with the Kolchak probably being my favorite.

Mothra, dude, let’s hold off on this until we read the WC’s Halloween stories.

A blog tradition — five spooky Hallo-wine stories

Sorry about that. Couldn’t resist the pun.

I wrote five Halloween posts; frankly, all damned good and some even better. I’m actually kind of surprised no one optioned the Kolchak story.

And, since it’s Halloween, don’t overlook last month’s Bogle ghost story contest suggestions.

Enjoy.

Who else but the Wine Curmudgeon could combine Halloween and terrific parody, taking on the various foolishness inherent in the wine business? And there’s even a post about witches, for good measure.

If we can dress like this for Halloween, then the Wine Curmudgeon should be allowed to write Halloween wine parodies.

A blog tradition — the five Halloween wine tales from the middle of the decade.

These posts didn’t always get the traffic they deserved, but what does Google know about good writing, terrific parody, and making fun of the Winestream Media?

Besides, who else would be brave (or silly) enough to combine these characters with cheap wine and Halloween?

Halloween wine tale 2017: Dr. Who vs. the Daleks

No, Sarah Jane, you don’t need to wear a brown hat.

This year’s annual Halloween post: Dr. Who and his brown-hatted companion must stop the Daleks from exterminating all the cheap wine in the universe

I was sleeping, which seemed like the best thing to be doing in the middle of the night, when someone nudged me. Hard. And then harder.

“Aren’t you up yet? We’re already late.”

I rolled over, reached for my glasses in the nightstand. He was sitting on the edge of the bed, with his too curly hair, too floppy hat, too long scarf, and the too annoyed look that I knew all too well.

“Some of us can’t negotiate the vastness of time and space without sleeping every night,” I said. “I’ve always wondered how you put up with that failing of ours, Doctor.”

“Sleep? Who was talking about sleep? I was talking about the gravest threat possible to the safety of the universe. Why else would I interrupt my holiday in Brighton to come get you?”

“I didn’t know you liked Brighton, Doctor.” I really didn’t.

“You’re missing the point!” and his voice rose and became quicker and faster. “This is the stuff of nightmares, of pure evil, a blasphemy toward all forms of life. It’s the end of time and space.”

That woke me up. The Daleks will do that. Continue reading
